Training and support for foster carers
Providing the best possible care for our children starts with making sure our foster carers are fully supported and well-prepared, so we offer lots of specialist training.
You’ll get unique training and development opportunities to help you feel confident and give you the skills you need to manage the challenges of fostering.
What training does Camden offer for foster carers?
Tailored training programme
Our foster carers benefit from a dedicated training package that is tailored specifically to the needs of Camden carers. Whether you’re new to fostering or have years of experience, this programme is designed to help you build on your strengths and develop the knowledge needed to provide exceptional care to vulnerable children.
Access to professional-level training
We understand the importance of continuous learning. That’s why we offer foster carers access to the same high-quality training provided to our social workers. This gives you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of fostering, child development and trauma-informed care, making sure you’re well-equipped to support children through a range of circumstances.
Latest research
Through Camden’s partnerships with leading London universities, you’ll have access to the latest research on child development and care practices.
This helps ensure that our foster carers are always informed about the most up-to-date and effective ways to support the children they care for.
Shared training opportunities
As part of the North London Fostering Consortium, Camden works with 5 other boroughs to offer shared training and resources.
This means you’ll be able to connect with a wider network of foster carers, exchange ideas and learn from shared experiences.
Support for foster carers
Fostering is incredibly rewarding but can also be challenging at times, so Camden offers continuing support for foster carers.
